It's not supposed to be a finished product or even a product at all. More of a proof of concept lacking all common optimizations or settings or even a template you could edit to customize things.

good luck with it. he asked me the other day for it, but I just dont have the time to fuss with it.

hopefully my suggestion if feasible. it the only way I can see it being optimized without edits and sticking to the existing plugin system

It already uses edits I'm too lazy to pick a pid out of an already parsed blockquote gotopost link and insert images into that belatedly...

Seems like I'll have to polish this up then, not sure when I'll find the motivation to do so.

I have a query-optimized version now, customizable by template too.

Template which looks as crappy as the screenshot on the earlier page is:

I'll have to come up with something that looks nicer. Probably allow the text to float around the avatar so it doesn't waste quite so much space? Oh well.
