Hi guys,
I have a forum that is pretty active. I am still using 1.1.8 and I'm scared to upgrading to 1.2.1. Is there any reason I should be? Are there any mods/themes incompatible with 1.2.1? Can screwing up cause some serious damage?
Thanks,
LPX
Sorry to say that just about all your mods/themes won't work with 1.2.1...that's just something we've all had to deal with!
Fortuntely though, most of the mods have been upgraded...can't say that about the themes though.
Well, until my theme is converted into 1.2, I guess I'm not switching.
Can I see your site? Also there is a part of the upgrade which rebuilds the thread index and takes forever if you have a lot of posts...it's very troublesome and one site with 160k posts took about 8 hours to complete that one part.
As for theme and mods...that part is fairly easy.
By the way, there are lots more Modifications & Themes for MyBB 1.2 then the old MyBB 1.1.8 version.

If you do only 20 threads at a time.

More mods, yes...more themes? No!
I did 200 threads at a time on my server. Any more and it timed out. There was something like 18k threads...I had to write a javascript auto submit the form when the page reloaded otherwise I would have needed to sit at the computer and click once every 5 minutes to start a new set. I was fearful of a browser crash or mistake too...so I just made the auto submit and ran it all night.
I also updated my democracyforums.com this week ...it has 1700 threads...took about 25 minutes...not cool. A 100mb+ database will create problems for anyone trying to upgrade. People should be aware of this.
Also both upgrades were on a dedicated server with plenty or ram and cpu available. The query pushes mysql to the limits of the cpu usage.
