The current built-in friendly URLs are ugly and not very human-readable. In essence they aren't much better than file.php?id=somenumber. Maybe have them customisable without a plugin in 1.8?

It's too large a change for a minor release. You won't be seeing this in 1.8.

Which implies we will be seeing it in 2.0, maybe?

No that's not what Nathan said. He said it won't be in 1.8, it might be in 2.0 but I don't think that was implied there. IMO

Yes.

They most likely will be in 2.0 though if we're using a framework as it makes more sense.

I can't wait! I'd love for there to be something like Wordpress where it is customizable through the admin panel using variables.
