Is there a plugin that allows you to follow users? Something similar to Twitter and Tumblr.

You could try hacking about at the buddy system - it is a kind of follow in as much that people don't get the chance to say no.

With a couple of plugins (buddies on profile and so on) you could make a pretty fair "followers" setup.
