I'm looking to set up a themes page on my forum with mydownloads. If I put direct downloads to free themes but had full credits and linkbacks to the original author in the description, would I be breaking any rules?

You'd have to read the license of each theme. Some don't allow redistribution.

It depends on the licence included by individual authors. And most of the cases redistribution is prohibited without prior permission from the original author.

You may link back to mods site instead. That will save your bandwidth too
