I would like to see the option to order the thread prefixes, currently prefixes are ordered as there are created (by TID) and there is no way to change it. A plugin is not possible unless core edits are applied as well either.

This could require quite some changes and could possible break a bazillion plugins but I think the current way method is nothing but un-useful.

Probably applying an alphabetic order would be enough.

Then maybe add a hook to make this achievable for a plugin. This kind of functionality should be core IMO.

this is more than a plugin since there are several places that threadprefixes are queried and NO places in high use files that use the cached contents. there is a bigger problem than just the display order, they need to drop the queries and pull from the cache and rework the cache to support display order.
