setup mybb on win2003 box/ latest easyphp suite for php/ mysql/ apache. installed at c:\easyphp\www\mybb. access url of http://localhost:8000/mybb
internet access is to a comcast router/modem and port direction to one of the internal pc's. (multiple pcs on an internal network).
i was able to setup a simple arrangement of 1 category and 3 forums. all seemed to work just fine while i was using mybb as an intranet. (via a localhost:8000 url.
however, when i tried to access with an internet url, http://mybb.iam-url.com:8000/mybb, i noticed that the login script had a url of http://localhost:8000/mybb/member.php?action=login. this of course can not work since an internet does not go to localhost. there should have been a substituion of mybb.iam-url.com for localhost.
i did go to the mybb admin cp/configuration menu for urls and saw nothing useful to change. the 'board url' setting was appropriate as http://localhost:8000/mybb
i do not have an option of putting the pc on a dmz so it bypasses the need for port direction.
also, i tried the setup with phpbb3 and it worked perfectly. login url was changed. etc.
one final note. i can not change the board url to http://mybb.iam-url.com:8000/mybb since that would bust any intranet access.
