It accomplishes the same thing.... and no plugin needed.
Hmm, I see your point.
The other part is we want to be conscious of who registers, will never exceed 500 users.
I have found a plugin that does it, as mentioned, and also hacked another plugin to do it. Its not hard to do actually.
I plan to make my own plugin for it as a community and mybb payback.
