We all know the search system in 1.6 is awful..it needs work.

If we could see a new and improved search for 1.8 that'd be phenomenal.


I realized how awful it was when I typed in "mybb scratchboard" in the search up top and not one result was the thread. Why?

yes full text search has issues. I posted an updated functions_search file a a long time ago, it probably still works in 1.6.9

Semantic search is a great solution to improve search, I would like create a plugin to support semantic search but now I don't have much time.

The search functionality needs improvement, but nailing a search system is difficult enough. Then you get a performance hit especially with big forums.
