Is there a way to change the member profile url from /member.php?action=profile&uid=1 to something like /members/username or /username ?

You'd have to use an URL Rewriting modification. Possible GoogleSEO does this. If not, it can be achieved within an .htaccess file. Search this site for GoogleSEO.

Unless you know what you are doing, its best to leave it that way. It even fulfils your needs.

Which one the .txt or the just the .htacess file?

The .txt file was meant to be renamed to .htaccess.

I need .htaccess.
