If the strings are all the same for completely different characters, then it's not possible to fix (not reliably).
You could assume that nXt stands for n't and Xs for 's. and " X " for " - " and .X for ." and so on. That could get most of them right but not all...
You should find out where this issue is occuring and fix it there.
