So basically, if I wanted to lets say (hypothetically, don't complain!) I wanted to make my forum paid only.
How would I go about doing this, so soon as they login they have to pay to see the forum/complete the application... any ideas?

Any idea which would be the simplest of all routes to take? I'm guessing the no permissions page, allowing only certain usergroups to see the index and having Registered not being able to view the board?
I think that would be the best way. On the no permissions page, you can use a template conditional to display one message for logged out users and another for logged in users who don't have a subscription active.
