Just curious why they're being limited. I know it being hard on admins was brought up. But if changes are made to the default theme (As in, template changes), themes from 1.6 could still be used with 1.8 right? It would just overwrite the custom changes made in 1.8, which if the admin wanted they could take the time to do manually?

Maybe I'm missing something, just wanted to know.

Being the default theme, massive changes could break plugins and existing functionality that isn't core within MyBB. The aim of a minor release is to break as few plugins as possible. Shy
