I setup a test forum on my website prior to registering for the new domain.

On my new domain, I wanted to do a clean install, since I was doing a lot of trial & error tinkering on the test site. The new url is:

www.paintersnetwork.org

I followed install directions and uploaded to a subfolder called "/forum/", and directed everything else to point to the root "paintersnetwork.org/"...

If I go to my url, there's nothing (the host's generic "coming soon" page), if I visit my url/forum, it sort of loads, but incorrectly (no css?).

The admin login is at /forum/admin, not root/admin...
I'm not sure what I did wrong; it's a mess...

Can anyone help me here?

You've set your board URL to http://www.paintersnetwork.org/ but you've installed MyBB at http://www.paintersnetwork.org/forum/. Additionally, you've set your cookie path to http://www.paintersnetwork.org/ which isn't a path, it's a URL. The board URL should be set to http://www.paintersnetwork.org/forum/ and your cookie path should be /forum/

Thanks Nathan. I fixed the cookie path.
If I want my forum to be located at paintersnetwork.org, not at ../forum, do I need to start over?

Did you fix both parts? The reason I ask is because all admin pages other than the admin index are not loading.

Given that you have nothing in the forum, you can just start again.

Yeah I just updated the board URL, and it's working now at ../forum

You think starting over is the best bet at this point? Since it's empty anyway?

Is the admin working correctly for you? Because it wasn't working for me.

The other thing you can do is just pick up the whole myb folder and move it up to root, but the MyBB index will overwrite the one you have now.
