Hi when i go to my site i get the home page up but when i click on a forum or any other link i just get 404 error i have checker the server all files are present i have also checked the .htaccess file can't see anything strange,i know it is probably a host issue, just wondering if there is anything i can do my end is it a possible hack.

that is what the htaccess says if you can see anything weired let me know, i have also disabled all plugins and still the same error.

this might sound silly, if you turned off SEF URLs in the settings then rename .htaccess to htaccess.txt

Edit: it is strange that forumURL/index.php is resulting 404 error but forum index page is loading !

Yes i have already tried that forgot to mention in the post. i am using default mybb urls at the moment, and yes i also find that strange, and still no response from the host.

you have mod rewrite enabled? I just had a similar issue on my first unmanaged VPS. After I enabled mod rewrite all my links worked. When mod rewrite is not on.. all php files will work but any forum or thread links will not.

yes mod rewrite is enabled as i have google seo installed, and the problem seems to have resolved it self.

i think it was server related, i contacted the host but they never got back to me so not sure.

ah not good, perhaps it's time to find a new host if this continues...

First time it has happened in the 6 months or so i have been with them.
