Hi, I set the GZIP compression and my site ran really fast, but I have now taken it off but every time I update something it doesn't do it straight away: for example; I logged out and it redirected me but then I am still logged in, I click log out again and I am also still logged in. The only way it updates now is if I refresh the page around 5 - 6 times.

How can I get it so that my site updates how it did before?

Hmm. I am not sure, as I haven't really had this problem. Since the Logged-In/Logged-Out page isn't entirely needed, you could try deleting that. That may be hardcoded in MyBB though. Also, what it could be is that your database server is reverting to an earlier time. I have a website with IPBoard that I that problem with.
