Personally, I find something like "6 hours ago" more easily understandable than a precise date and time.

I think relative time up to 24 hours is a much better idea.

Effective relative time would be: 32 minutes ago; Today 22:36; Yesterday 22:36; Tuesday 22:36; anything past 3 days would push it to 30/04/13 22:36.

I did skip the 2nd day (which tells you the day) due to time (ironic!).
