Hi guys could you please tell me how to setup premium membership option like you see on almost all the forums.

You could take a look at this plugin, not sure how reliable it is

go to admin cp > users & groups > group.
create a new user group.
Click the group was created earlier and select your own setting.

and go to the forum see below there is a new user groups created earlier. you're setting yourself access rights.
