Its a lovely amount of edit in structures and parsers.
I have the basic idea how it works, but not tried with MyBB.

There are no pid's.

There are if you link to a specific post.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-term-...ost1266557

That forum probably doesn't let users have a custom "posts per page" setting. If it did, that link would work only for users who have the standard setting, as with other settings, the linked post would not necessarily be on page 10.

In MyBB the ?pid=570#pid570 is necessary to make links to specific posts work regardless of the users pagination setting. Google SEO does not remove it as it would break one of MyBB's features by doing so. It would break URLs.

if you link straight to the topic then the regular visitor has to use a couple of more clicks
and visit unwanted pages before reaching the required post

if you still want to have links similar to that forum then someone here can provide guidance

Hi M,

But link to an unread post is irrespective of the "pid in URL" is it not ? Isn't it controlled from admin settings in my forum ?

Also all user's who click a topic would by default visit either the 1st post or the last( recent ) post of the thread. As per my understanding a user will not be able to see his first unread post ( how is this possible ?) , he can only see the last post or first post of a thread. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Thanks.

Ok I think I'm understanding a little bit more now. So if I understood it right , the pid gives more control to users in myBB with respect to their own posts or viewing other posts and it's better left alone.

If we do remove pid , users will not be able to link to specific pages of the thread and the URL might stop working too, right ?
^ first unread post link in general is available at the threads listing (with this image --> [Image: jump.gif])

if pid is removed then, main URL of the topic can work but reaching a specific post would be difficult

I think I like this feature with pid after reading your comments.

But as per the link to the forum I showed earlier it seems they have both options enabled. Some threads have pid while others don't. So maybe this is possible even in myBB ?
