I often have to export and re-import themes in order to continue work on a "Development" version. Would be nice if we could just replicate the theme that we have.
Yeah that would be good. In developing a theme you could want to go in two different directions and this would allow you to fork.
I would also like to see this implemented.
That would be nice but I'm not sure whether we should implement it. But probably as a plugin?

Perhaps ... theme folders within the ACP?
I'm not a coder so perhaps my thinking is stupid...
but also as such, this as a rooted feature would be wasted on me.
so a plugin makes much more sense.
couldn't it be done to pull from a site backup?
thus, see what your actually developing with a pre populated format?

Just because you wouldn't use something doesn't mean it shouldn't be core.
This would be useful even if working in a staging environment.
