i've installed a new myBB as a test in a subfolder www.mydomain.com/forum

my old forum & links to it are all just to www.mydomain.com
can i drag & drop my entire forum subfolder contents back to my root directory or will that break some links ect anywhere in my forum or shall I be fine as long as I maintain the default myBB structure

if you do not have any other system installation at the domain root folder then you can move MyBB.
if you move MyBB files to the root folder then you have to change below in inc/settings.php file

$settings['bburl']
$settings['cookiedomain']
$settings['cookiepath']

see this for the guidance on cookie settings

i should have noted it will be the only software in the root directory

I've edited settings.php and after moving I will also be required to change the settings in ACP also correct as per that page?

oh, yes. you have to modify the settings also at admin panel.

not that anyone seemed to really notice the switch in software (best thing I ever did) though just a lot of "hey new theme is cool" comments
