I've not found a mod for this, so I'm asking as it's the only way I've ever seen that defeats the spambots - the ones currently available are failing on at least one forum I provide hosting for.

I'd love to see a mod where in the admin cp, the administrator can write one or two custom questions as a form of spambot registering and posting prevention. Ideally, they would be able to put in multiple options as the accepted answer per questions, in case of capitalisation sensitivity or differences in spelling.

Someone here in this Forum once suggested the following:

Create a forum with the following settings:
- guets can create threads
- users can only see their own threads

Spammers find out about the first setting and post their junk there, but they are oblivious to the second setting which effectively hides the spam from everyone but the admin.

The "guets can post" setting makes it easieer for spammers - so many don't bother to (try to) register any longer. At my board, visible spam and fake registrations went down drastically.

Further helpful settings:
- Activate Akismet
- User registration: activate "Display a hidden CAPTCHA"

Thanks, I'll be sure to pass on those suggestions to the communities I know that are being affected by spambots.

I'd still like the mod though, especially as Akismet stops one of the communities' users from being able to post a lot. I use a mod like that requested on my XenForo forum and before I had it, I had on average 250 spambots registering everyday (inbuilt captchas are similar to those available on MyBB and just as useless lol). I added the custom question (ours was, "what does the RP in RPG stand for?" and spambots vanished completely.

I'm willing to sponser the mod too if needed
