Add the following to your .htaccess file (if you're using Apache as a webserver):
DirectoryIndex portal.php index.php index.html

1. Install and activate plugin
2. On the bottom of Configuration sidebar (where Plugins, Settings etc. are) there should be "Advanced Sidebox" link. Click it. Or visit http://[yourforumurl.com/admin]/index.php?module=config-adv_sidebox Change [yourforumurl.com/admin] to admin directory of your forum.
3. Move one of the blue blocks (you want Welcome block if I understood correctly) under Left or Right.
4. A window should appear, change what you want and click Save. After that there should be a green box under Left/Right column and. In the scripts you selected in the window there should be a box on the left side now. Try CTRL + F5 if there isn't.
@down, the yellow boxes are custom (you can make own custom), the three examples are outdated and not useful and the slideshow - I don't know, it's just not available.

Hi, I have installed and activated the mod, Advanced Side Boxes. It does exactly as I'd have dreamt... No need to do endless template edits, coupled with needless changes every time I update a template.
My one problem is that Sideboxes appear on the index and showthread, but not on forumdisplay. What have I missed? My forum

Advanced Sidebox -> Manage Scripts -> Forum Display
Make sure Header Search Text and Footer Search Text are correct and present in chosen Template.
