I think that ability to crop avatars after upload would be a very useful feature. There are some really nice and popular plugins which shows avatars in different MyBB places, for example:
- My Alerts - shows avatars on drop down notifications panel
- My Network - shows avatars on index/showthread/forumdisplay
Very often users' avatars have different dimensions, some are square, some are rectangular... and it would be a lot better if all avatars would be square. It will be a lot easier for designers to adjust their themes.
This solution is well-known from portals like Facebook, G+ etc.

I know that there is a possibility to impose dimensions but I don't think that is user-friendly solution.
What do you think - is it hard to add this into MyBB? Does it require rewriting of avatar's upload system?
