I have a welcome block (div=panel) and a navigation menu (div=top_navigation_menu) and I am trying to get the welcome block inside the div=top_navigation_menu. I tried using padding and margin and can't seem to figure it out. Both divs are under a div called "header".

Can anyone help me? I'm trying to get the welcome block to overlap the top navigation menu and be on the top of the header.

I believe negative values in css are not good practice and should only be used where necessary. You could use absolute positioning as shown below, then use top, bottom, left, right as required to position your element. You obviously dont need to use all the css below and the values I put in below are just random.

@Jambuster - yes, there are many ways to skin a cat - I think negative values are not that bad, if used in moderation.

Absolute positioning has it's issues as well; I think the answer is to know the consequences of whatever method one chooses.

I agree completely. Since the header is a lot different than most mybb theme (2 menu) and will be the only place in the forum that will be needing the negative value will be okay. I doubt it will affect anything else except what's in the header. Smile
