Hi guys and MyBB moderators could you tell me please how can I efficiently moderate my forum to filter out as much spam as possible. How do you moderate a forum as busy as MyBB.
Thanks
I have moderated forums with more activity than MyBB before as both super moderator and admin.

1. I would recommend you to use the hot words plugin to keep the spam limited by new members. Most spammers are new members because their goal is to advertise or fill it up with inappropriate/illegal content.

2. If you run a forum such as hacking forum for example then you will have a lot of competitors so I would recommend you to find out some newly made hacking forums and go into configuration/word filters and filter those new hacking forums names and keep the replacement to [Removed], [Censored], etc. I recommend this because new forums are always looking to expand and they require advertising so they advertise on their competitors forums to steal their members if they have something special to offer.

3. Install the goodbye spammer plugin.

If someone spammed the hell out of your forum. You can easily ban the spammer and delete or move their posts. Basically an easier way to handle spammers.

4. If I were you, I would browse through the most popular sections on my forum daily and check if there are any spam threads or not and check out the most replied threads.

5. Install the PM admin log plugin so you can see if someone suspicious is advertising under your nose or not. Through this plugin, you can view all PMs send on your forum and even delete them through your ACP.

Also, take a look at the spam prevention plugins thread in the security forum.

There is a lot more you can do to handle spam but it just depends on how deep you want to go. Remember: You can never stop spam completely.
Thank you very very much for this amazing reply/tutorial. I think I need to spend more time just checking all the posts and replies.
No problem. Thanks for the +rep.
