can anyone help out a noob figure out how to edit a website I inherited?

portal page which is shown as the home page for your site. what exactly you want to change
I'd like to change the text in the main body of the page. I'd also like to edit the lines under "RECRUITMENT"
for example, after "DEATH KNIGHT" i'd like to change "closed" to "open"

Ok, so evidently this is a little more complicated than I thought considering the lack of interest. So on to plan B. Does anyone know of a good basic tutorial explaining how to edit text? I assume I need some kind of software to do this?
In the "old" days it was a pretty simple task, just open the index page in front page and edit away. I guess things have changed over the years.
When I right click on the webpage in chrome i can "view source" and see the text that needs to be changed but no way to do it.
Anyway, thanks again for any advice.
