I would like to "promote" users into various user groups upon email verification, based on profile fields such as age, gender, location, religion etc.

For example when "John Smith" registers, he enters:

Date of birth: June 4 1950
Gender: Male
Country: Australia
Religion: Presbyterian

When he verifies his email, he should be promoted into the groups
Men, Australians, Christians and Seniors

What do I need, to do this?

I think you are going to have to request this custom plugin because I don't think it exists but I could be wrong. :/
