In the page for adding plugin settings, http://docs.mybb.com/Plugin_Settings.html
it doesn't look like the setting group ever gets added to the database. Is that something MyBB does automatically or was that mistakenly left out? It just looks like the $setting_group is made and then left out.

Additionally, it looks like the link to The Hook System is broken on this page: http://docs.mybb.com/Authoring_Plugins.html - I think this is the page its meant to link to (which I found after googling), http://docs.mybb.com/Plugins-The_Hook_System.html am I correct?

It looks like that page was created by a member of the community and they left some information out. $setting_group should be inserted in to mybb_settingroups.

That's an issue which arose when we converted from Wikimedia to Github Pages. Feel free to submit a pull request on Github to fix it. We're currently rewriting the docs but changes are still welcome to the old docs.
