Any suggestions on setting up a download section?
Hi rfxcasey,

The simplest way to do that would be to use a plugin, such as this one by StefanT: http://mods.mybb.com/view/inline-downloads
You can use the plugin below if you want to have the downloads page on a different page.

If you want to have the download link and download information within the threads then you can use the plugin suggested by Andriod
Arbaz, the download manager you linked to looks like just what I need. Only problem is it says it's not compatible with 1.6.9 that I am using. Any solution to this problem? Maybe it something simple I can fix myself?

Ah yes saw that but a real shame there is only download for admin. Has no one created a more mainsteam type download plugin? Something where there is an option for registered users to choose a file for upload, enter description info and the the like? I was using this one http://mods.mybb.com/view/downloads. It's really good but only give you the option to link not to choose a file from the users machine. Is there a way I could modify it to get it right? And what about the download system used on this MyBB forum. Seems great but where do I get it or is it a custom job?
The plugin you link does not exist

Wow, strange when I goto the download page for the plugin in myBB that like is all that is shown in the address bar. I simply copied and pasted it as you would with any other link. I'm looking at the page right now. The Plugin in question was Download 2.0.1 by Edson Ordaz. It can be navigated to my going to the plugins download/new pages section. Its on the first page.

I think I see what happened. When I pasted the link to the post editor it automatically put in the http:// perhaps.

here is the actual address code in the address bar.

Thanks for the link by the way. This is essentially very similar. The Download plugin I tried to link you to would be perfect if there was a why to add a choose file feature. I've seen this in another free download plugin called Download Manager by Firestryke31. The problem with his plugin is it only allows for uploads by admin.

Would be great if I or someone could find a way to add the choose file for upload feature from Firestyke31's plugin to Edson Ordaz's Download plugin, then there would be no need for paid version for me at least. Why Edson Ordaz only allows for linked downloads is beyond me. Other than that it is pretty much perfect for my needs.
