Is there a plugin that someone has made that when someone registers they get to choose an option of which team they support and when they've signed up they can only post in there section of the forum?

You have to:
1. Make a custom profile field and make it mandatory.
2. Make different usergroups and assign permissions as per your need.
3. Switch the users to the exact usergroup during registration as per their input.

So I would have to add them to that group manually? I cant find out how to make it so certain groups can only post in certain forums

That extends how many teams and their names as option to choose.
Which forum id is dedicated for which team
The forums will be hidden to non supporters or just not postable ...
etc.
We already know you can't figure out, don't we?
