So where do I add that code in my .htaccess file.
And do I need to upload the sitemap also?

Google SEO plugin has a different .htaccess file - so again rename your current .htaccess file as htaccess.txt
and add the content given by Google SEO plugin at the plugins page into new .htaccess file
you do not have to upload sitemap.
