Hello .. I have been trying to install latest MyBB but can't get past the first installation page.
My host is with Batcave.net.
The url is
www.marlowuke.co.uk/install
When I click on next from the first installation page, I get sent to Batcave's homepage!
I have changed the permissions of the files as requested and renamed the config file. I can't figure out what I missed. Sorry I'm no expert in this area .. any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Brian
When I click on the link provided above, I receive a 404 error then get redirected. Are you sure you have uploaded the install directory on the root of your forums directory?
Sorry ... the link is wrong .. it should be:
www.marlowuke.co.uk/forum/install
The problems is the same though

It shows a 404 error. Are you sure you have uploaded all the files in the install directory?
OK .. I have just downloaded MyBB again
unzipped ..
used Filezilla to copy the upload folder contents to the forum folder again.
Changed config.php
Changed permissions.
Tried
www.marlowuke.co.uk/forum/install
Still get the same problem!!! Can't get past first page!!!
Oh I see. It's a 403 error and not a 404. The redirect takes place so fast that it was hard to notice.
It seems that access is forbidden. Download a copy of your .htaccess file and delete it from your server then give it a try.
Sorry to be a nuisance but where do I find this?
I can see htaccess.txt but not .htaccess.

I just tried renaming htaccess.txt to .htaccess ... no change.
Tried deleting the file .. no change.
Can't get past the Welcome screen.

We've investigated your problem and we found out that our automatic abuse-blocking system was blocking the license agreement form because it contained the word "Proxy" (which is a blacklisted word) four times. We've taken the liberty of editing out the word "proxy" from the index.php (containing the actual text of the License Agreement) file of the MyBB installation.

Thanks for your help
