It would be nice however to have an editor that marks the number of lines and colors in a different way, so you can read / write the code more easily

MyBB 1.6 and 1.8 both have editors. 1.6 uses CodePress and 1.8 uses CodeMirror.

That's because you've disabled CodePress in the admin preferences.
