I want to use RSS Feed Poster plugin to auto posts from my blog's rss feed, but I also want a way to pull the link to that thread into a sidebar in index and some other areas, so everyone sees it.

So, I guess is there a way to show the latest thread from a specific forum in a sidebar?

It's possible yes. Actually won't be to hard if you're decent with php. But, not with core to my knowledge.
