Whenever I try to optimize my database it causes my server loads to increase until my server crashes. The only clue as to what causing this is that my forum statistics are bugged. # of posts and # of members seem to keep restarting itself every couple hours or so. I can Recount and Rebuild the stats and it fixes it but it's only temporary.

Any ideas?

Do you know what database engine you are using? MyIsAm, Innodb, other?
