You need to look up in
Board Settings-->User Registration and Profile Options.
You should disable guest posting if you don't need it.
Use a plugin called Keycaptcha as the captcha for your forums. Will stop most of your spam. 99% accuracy.

Reg Method: send email verification

reCAPTCHA is a core part of MyBB now. You don't need a plugin for it.
