some how my category has changed to a forum. I cant change it back to a category because it says i have other forums inside the post, which i do. can anyone hhelp?

did you try changing Forum Type to category and select Parent Forum as none in ACP...
yep i've tried that but it says:
The following errors were encountered:
Forums with threads cannot be converted to categories.
It used to work fine!

yes thats right.... first move all the threads from the section which you want to convert as category, to any other suitable forums and then change it to category
