Hi there, not sure if this is a mybb question, or a server question so here goes:
I want to use either google analytics, or some type of self-hosted analytics to track visitors.
I want something so, if I past a link on website X to my forum, the url shows as forumurl.com/refx (Or something like that) - Where I can customize links to see what sites people are coming from.

Ex. Lets say I put forumurl.com/refyoutube in the description of a youtube video, I was to see how many people came to my site from that URL.

Google analytics can tell you this but it won't work in the exact format you're asking. For a self hosted option Piwik is great.

Will piwik allow me to create those custom URLs?

It's open source so if you know what you're doing sure.

Well I don't. So if it had that already that'd be dandy...
Going through their demo it looks like it might work.
