first, check your error logs files. Tell us the error message

Second, try to use default theme. Do you still experience the problem? If not, it might be your theme

This could also result from a flawed plugin. To test this you can go to ACP->Configuration->Settings->General Configuration->Disable All Plugins and change that to "Yes". Test your issue, if it disappears you'll know it's a plugin. If it doesn't, you'll know it is something else like the theme. Either way, once you've tested it don't forget to turn that option back to "No" so that your plugins will work again.
