Hi there! I am just getting started with MyBB (was a phpBB fan for years but decided to try myBB based on the current reviews.)

Problem is, there are so many plugins, I'm not sure where to start. So thought I'd ask the community...
  • What are your favorite plugins, and why?

  • Which ones could you never live without?

  • Which ones would you avoid? (For security reasons, bugs , etc.)

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

1. That really depends on your forum and your needs.. On one I required MyShoutbox and it was the most used plugin, on 2nd I didn't even install it. On both I use Template Conditionals, but if you're not acknowledged with MyBB's PHP/HTML/etc., it may be useless for you. So I don't think asking for favorites without telling what you exactly need will help you.

2. Antispam plugins are a must-have for every forum: http://community.mybb.com/thread-110224.html I especially recommend Stop Forum Spam and Registration Security Questions.

3. I'd most likely watch out for some paid plugins sites - many people pay for plugins which can be found for free or contain security holes.
Also here a list of free vulnerable plugins: http://community.mybb.com/thread-133659.html Some may be patched, some not (unavailable on Mods site).
Yumi's spamalyser plugin is a must have plugin IMO. He is author of so many nice plugins like Template Conditionals and xThreads that will surely help you if you're no-voice in MyBB/PHP environment.
