Yes, I know, I know.

This has happened on both installations of myBB I've tried - one on a local webserver sitting 2 feet away (which I've now deleted), and one on a hosted server.

The install wizard runs through fine, and all the database tables are created. My admin user appears in the mybb_users table.

I go to the index page of the folder containing myBB, and I get the "Hello There, Guest! (Login - Register)" message. Clicking Login and entering the details for the admin user then clicking Login gives me the "You have been successfully logged in" message, then returns me to the same screen - "Hello There, Guest! (Login - Register)"...

So my admin user cannot log in. What have I done wrong?

Are you sure your cookie settings are correct?

Hi there

They weren't! It took a while to find what was wrong, and understand why. The forum was hosted in a subfolder which was its own domain. The default installation had decided one value for the cookie settings, when a different one was required.

All sorted now, thanks.
