The view new posts functionality is part of the search system. Can you explain in detail what you're expecting and what actually happens?

Randomly when you hit the view new posts link it goes to the default search form.

We have done a fresh install on same server in another folder and it is doing exactly the same thing. So seems to be a server issue. Heard of this??
I know what the host will say...nothing wrong here must be software.

It's the first time I've heard of this issue. If it's happening on a fresh install, it must be some sort of server misconfiguration.
