All I can say it is tested several times, there must be some mistake on your part.
Well you can also add overflow hidden to cut off the signature.
overflow: hidden; will take effect only when the signature container height is fixed.
We are dealing with the image height here, not the signature container height.
I thought the otherwise effone. My whole point was putting a cap on the complete signature size so as to not get big and clumsy.

You need to perform a preg-replace to remove the tags while adding the signature.
A plugin can do that well.
