What do you mean "Security" mods? MyBB is already very secure.

No. Make sure you subscribe to the mailing list on the
main site. You will get an e-mail every time there is a patch released for MyBB.
I can give you some tips. Change the admin folder name. You can assign the folder name in settings.php I believe and it won't hamper the function of the admincp.
Also make sure you have a host with logs...some cheap hosting doesn't keep logs and if they don't I recommend you install something to track IPs. Do daily backups...if not then at least once per week. If you get hacked you can easily reinstall.

Actually it's in
inc/config.php you change the folder name for admin CP. You can read about how to change it
here as well.
