It will allow you to set default avatar, signature, and profile options from Admin CP. These will be given to each user who registers on board.
Default avatar is an 1.8 feature so users without avatars will be formatted with one. I don't see why you would want to force a default signature in users.

Profile options are handy though. Profile is woefully underdeveloped really.

"Default Thread Subscription Mode" -> Instant email notification
That would be very helpful for me.

i managed to install the "Default Profile" into 1.8.12 and it works quite well (despite the fact that the 2 options i want to set are missing)
