It is wrong. If you choose to ignore incorrectly formatted table tags, unclosed divs and so on, that is up to you. It will affect the board performance and appearance though.

Beleive me, SMF is bad. MyBB is the best. It takes time to udnerstand something. You cant learn HTML in a day. And you should not change forum softwares for your faults.
