Alright so I changed my meta tags and added a newer, updated description as well as keywords. It has been about 3-4 days and google/search engines have not picked it up yet.

How would I get the bot to rego through and update?

It can take quite some time, for a meta description it usually takes more than a week for it to be visible in Google listings.

You can use the submission tools from Google/Bing to re-submit it to possibly make it a bit faster:

Go to Google webmaster tool account and resubmit your sitemap.
