Same way there are still people running 1.4 after 1.6 was released...?
Actually themes are the biggest roadblock this time, the more changes there are, the longer it takes to adapt. Some forums may choose to abandon their old design in favour of going with something that just works for 1.8.
Plugins will soon be 1.8 only, and no longer be updated for 1.6. It's too much hassle to try to support multiple MyBB versions. If you stick with 1.6 you're on your own.

Im also making version 2 of this for 1.8.
I also agree with wils that alot of ppl will be staying on 1.6 for quite some time.
Ted S how did you solve the issue with the prototype.js causing the twitter bootstrap dropdown links from disappearing on your arcade site?

No there is no download link, this would be a Premium theme with limited copies for now. Now I do have 1.8 in beta and pretty much ready.
Ready to buy this theme when it is released for 1.8.
