is there anything in the mybb core that will allow me to automate the creation of threads in certain forums?

neither of those accomplish what I'm looking for.
There are few plugins which are able to auto-reply (like Yaldaram's Auto Post Bot) or even create threads (like, may say Nicman's Form Manager has the ability).

But the main question is trigger. I mean in what circumstance or happening will drive the thread to be created. If that is known - rest are easy to code.
What is the exact functionality you need?

I have a section on my forum called SOTD (shave of the day). each week a new thread is created for that weeks worth of SOTD.

I'd like to try an automate this since this is currently done manually by a mod.

basically it'd be nice to see something in the admin cp and/or mod cp so that an admin/mod can create a bunch of threads, schedule them to post on a certain date/time and then have it create the thread automatically.

I thought I used to use a plugin that accomplished this, but I can't remember what it's called. it might of been made by pavemen.
You might be looking for - Delayed Post from http://www.communityplugins.com

Quote:Description:

Delayed Posts plugin allows specific usergroups to delay the publication of a thread or post until a specified date/time up to 5 years in the future using the built-in MyBB drafts system. Included is a Javascript data/time picker for easy date selection. the plugin even supports polls, which are not normally available in a draft situation.

The included task file will move the draft to the public view when the task is automatically run and the requested publication time as passed. The publication time will reflect the time it was published, not the requested time, so that last post/thread are valid as is post order. Usually this is not an issue as the task runs every 15 minutes by default.
